Project: Provision of Technical Specifications for Sports fields - Ministry of Education

In 2014, SSDM was engaged by the Ministry of Education to provide the organisation with a comprehensive set of technical specifications for the provision of a range of sports field platforms. These generic specifications included:

Specifications for:

• Soil sports fields (with Primary & Secondary drainage options)
• Sand carpet sports fields (with Primary & Secondary drainage options)
• Artificial cricket pitch
• Natural cricket pitch
• Generic irrigation system designs and specifications

The focus of these specifications was to provide the client with detailed information regarding all relevant components of a sports field design in order that such details may be issued to Contractors at the time of tendering for physical works. Previously no such documentation had been available to the Ministry.

The specifications provided by SSDM are to be published on the Ministries 'Tool Box' site as a resource for new and existing schools througout New Zealand to use.

SSDM also provided the Ministry with a 'Decision Tree' that assists each school in the planning and selection of the most appropriate sports field relative to their own specific site, available resources and expectations.
